Job summary

Michael Page seeks a Clinical Negligence Associate for Manchester or remote work within an international law firm. You will manage a caseload across defendant/claimant matters, drafting reports, witness statements, and instructing experts and counsel.

Responsibilities include attending hearings and trials, advising on quantum and settlements, supervising colleagues, and contributing to client relations and business development. PQE 1–4 preferred; hybrid or fully remote options available.

Qualifications

• 1–4 PQE in defendant or claimant clinical negligence.
• Experience handling insurer/medical malpractice matters is desirable.
• Ability to run a caseload and supervise colleagues.

• Draft reports and witness statements, interview witnesses and instruct experts.
• Attend Court for Case Management Conferences and Application Hearings; advise on quantum and settlements.

This is a unique opportunity to work within a leading legal team which manages a variety of work for defendant clinical negligence clients, primarily focusing on insurer / medical malpractice clients. Our client has a portfolio of work for insurers - dealing with pharmacy, aesthetic and private clinicians.

Description

As a Clinical Negligence Associate your key responsibilities will include:

To run a caseload of clinical negligence files to include:

• Reviewing Insurance Policies and advising on coverage
• Drafting reports
• Interviewing witnesses
• Drafting witness statements
• Instructing experts
• Instructing counsel
• Attend Court for Case Management Conferences and Application Hearings
• Advising on quantum and negotiating settlements.
• Holding conferences with Counsel
• Preparing for and attending trials and mediations

Additional duties:

• Draft articles for clients on changes to the law
• Give client training and presentations
• Build and maintain client and internal relationships, adhering to both internal and external operating procedures
• Contribute to business development by seek new business opportunities
• Having a wider contribution to the Health business group and wider Firm by continually seeking ways to improve
• Supervision of colleagues work and supporting development of the team by appropriate delegation and coaching

Profile

A successful Clinical Negligence Associate should have ideally 1-4PQE in defendant or claimant clinical negligence work. Please note the level of experience identified in this advert is a guide only and does not preclude candidates with more or less PQE from applying.

Job Offer

• Salary ranging from £48,000 to £55,000, dependent on the level of experience.
• Hybrid working arrangements or fully remote for greater flexibility.
