Job Overview

To provide a qualified clinical psychology service to clients of the service team, across all sectors of care; providing highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy, and offering advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to colleagues and non-professional carers. The role involves working autonomously within professional guidelines and utilizing research skills for audit, policy, service development, and research.

Main Duties
  • Formulate and implement plans for psychological treatment and management of mental health problems based on an appropriate conceptual framework and evidence-based methods.
  • Implement psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families, and groups.
  • Evaluate and decide on treatment options considering complex factors and developmental processes.
  • Exercise autonomous responsibility for assessment, treatment, and discharge of clients.
  • Provide specialist psychological advice, guidance, and consultation to other professionals.
  • Contribute to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care across all settings.
  • Undertake risk assessments and provide advice on psychological aspects of risk management.

Detailed Responsibilities

Provide specialist psychological assessments, formulate and implement treatment plans, and deliver interventions across various care settings. Contribute to service development, supervise junior staff, and participate in training and research activities.

Person Specification
Qualifications/Registrations
  • Doctoral level training in Clinical, Child and Educational, or Counselling Psychology (HCPC and BPS accredited).
  • Doctoral or Masters level training in forensic psychology with full competencies and HCPC registration.
  • Pre-qualification training in research methodology and applied psychology.
Skills/Abilities
  • Complex psychological assessment and intervention skills.
  • Consultation and training skills.
  • Ability to work with high distress levels and produce clear reports.
