Job summary
This acute post involves ward duties on the neurology ward, outpatient clinics, consultations across the hospital, and neurosurgical ward responsibilities. Post holders will share clinical duties with other fellows and Specialist Registrars, contribute to ward protocols, audit projects, and clinical guidelines. Clinical research activities are encouraged. The role includes on-call commitments for neurology and neurosurgery, including long-day shifts, weekends, and nights.
Main duties of the job
Daytime clinical duties
Experience in a busy 24-bedded ward managing acute neurological issues such as epilepsy, neurovascular disorders, CNS infections, neuroinflammation, and genetic/neurometabolic diseases. Responsibilities include managing acutely ill children and providing neurology consultation services hospital-wide, including ICU and complex cases involving metabolic, oncology, infectious disease, and organ-specific specialties. The appointee will also advise on neurological issues outside the hospital, working closely with departments like Neuroradiology, Neurophysiology, Histopathology, Neurosurgery, and Paediatric Intensive Care. The role involves rotation through areas like the Koala ward, EEG telemetry unit, outpatient clinics, and consultations.
