About the role

At University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, we’re proud to be one of the largest and most diverse NHS Trusts in the country and our Clinical Coding team is no exception. As we continue to grow and innovate, we are looking for a highly motivated, experienced, and forward‑thinking Clinical Coding Audit Manager to play a crucial role in driving coding quality and data integrity across the Trust.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and deliver the Trust’s Internal Clinical Coding Audit Programme, including clinical engagement audits and audit validation using the Live Audit Tool.
  • Mentor and manage trainee auditors.
  • Lead the audit of all codified data output across the Trust to ensure alignment with National Clinical Coding Standards and Local Clinical Coding Policies.
  • Carry out clinical coding audits and data validation reports, involving complex data analysis and clear feedback to relevant colleagues.
  • Provide expert insight and lead collaboration with the Clinical Coding Manager and Senior Clinical Coding Improvement Lead on financial impacts of coding practice changes, either nationally or locally.
  • Challenge existing practices and incorporate progressive solutions and best‑practice models into service plans.
  • Collaborate closely with other leading colleagues as a member of the Clinical Coding leadership team to support efficient functioning of the department.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Accredited Clinical Coding Auditor with maintained Approved Clinical Coding Auditor status.
  • Expert grasp of National Clinical Coding Standards and Healthcare Resource Group (HRG) allocation.
  • Excellent communication skills, organisational and time‑management abilities.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in audit programme leadership and data validation within a healthcare setting is desirable.
