Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join the Clinical Biochemistry Department of our ISO15189:2022 accredited laboratory. Base location is Royal Bournemouth Hospital, with duties across site to support acute services.

You will analyse blood, body fluids, tissues and cells, participate in the out-of-hours rota, and contribute to teaching and CPD for trainees, ensuring high standards of patient care.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration is required.
• Experience as a Biomedical Scientist in Biochemistry is desirable.
• Experience in an ISO15189 or NHS pathology environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Analyze blood, body fluids, tissues and cells to determine presence or absence of disease, enabling diagnosis and monitoring of treatment.
• Responsible for delegated tasks and day-to-day organisation and delivery of a clinical pathology service.
• Assist in teaching and development of trainee staff and support workers.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in Biochemistry as part of CPD.
