Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to join the Central Reception and support Biochemistry, Haematology and Transfusion services. The role covers Poole Hospital and Royal Bournemouth Hospital, operates 24/7 with shift patterns including weekends and nights.

Training will involve data entry, sample handling, and delivering authorised results to clinicians, with a requirement to pass a typing test and work accurately in a busy NHS environment.

Qualifications

• Good general education with numeracy and literacy.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Experience in a busy laboratory or NHS setting is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Receive, log and process samples for testing by Biomedical Scientists.
• Provide accurate results to healthcare professionals and handle enquiries by phone.
• Work flexibly across central reception duties at Poole and Royal Bournemouth hospitals.
