Job summary

Warwick Sport at the University of Warwick is seeking an enthusiastic Climbing Centre Duty Manager to oversee operations, safety, and a welcoming customer experience across members, students, staff, and the wider community.

You will lead staff, deliver high-quality instruction, and contribute to ongoing development of the climbing programme, including inductions, taster sessions, parties, and NICAS-related activity. This role involves weekend, evening, and daytime shifts on a rota basis.

Qualifications

• Significant paid instructing experience within an indoor climbing facility.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety in climbing instruction and facility operations.
• Experience of working with NICAS.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and support a team in a busy environment.
• Experience of staff supervision and development.
• Confidence in preparing procedures and health and safety compliant risk assessments.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards and delivering a positive customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Climbing Centre to deliver high-quality service.
• Lead, support, and develop staff across weekends, evenings, and daytime shifts on a rota basis.
• Ensure high operational and safety standards, and manage risk assessments.
• Deliver and develop climbing instruction and programmes for members, students, and community.
• Contribute to expanding participation through events, inductions, taster sessions, courses, and NICAS activities.
