Job summary

University of Exeter in Exeter is seeking a full-time Climbing Arborist to join our gardens and grounds team across Streatham and St Luke's campuses. You will focus on seasonal tree work, safety, and the care of iconic specimens while supporting future planting, pruning, and decay detection programs.

The role offers progression, a competitive salary (£28,589–£30,339) on Grade C plus a monthly arboricultural allowance, and the chance to work in an estate with historic and modern planting.

Qualifications

• Experience in professional arboriculture or tree surgery.
• Commitment to safety and high presentation standards.
• Willingness to contribute to planning of grounds and planting.

Responsibilities

• Carry out seasonal arboricultural work across the tree stock.
• Maintain and inspect trees including champion specimens.
• Help establish young trees for future generations.
• Adhere to high standards of presentation and safety.

The starting salary will be from £ 28,589 to £30,339 on Grade C, depending on knowledge, skills and experience. Plus, a monthly arboricultural allowance.

Your role, should youjoinus, willfocus onall expectedseasonal workacrossthe tree stock, and the many iconic specimens and champion species and establishing young trees for the future.
The right person for the role will havea passion for theindustryas a wholeand feel comfortable in having their views andideas heard amongst the team as welayout the future planning of the groundswithinitsplanted landscape, dating back to the mid-1800s.A successful candidate will have a desire for highstandards ofpresentationand be able to demonstrate this as part of the application and interview process.We area proud custodians toour150 hectaresof gardens and grounds, having just gained botanic garden status we are looking for somebody to join are small motivated and busy team to help us deliver the highest standards of arboriculture.
