Job summary

University of Exeter is looking for a Climbing Arborist to join our dedicated grounds team. This full-time, permanent role starts immediately and involves seasonal tree stock work across the university campuses, with a focus on iconic specimens and future tree establishment.

You will work within a safety-focused culture, helping maintain high arboricultural standards and supporting ongoing development within the grounds department.

Qualifications

  • Experience as an Arborist or working in arboriculture to high standards.

About The Role

Climbing Arborist

This full-time post is available from immediately on a permanent basis. Applications for secondments will be considered, subject to agreement from your current line manager.

The starting salary will be from £ 28,589 to £30,339 on Grade C, depending on knowledge, skills and experience. Plus, a monthly arboricultural allowance.

With agenuinelyproud safetyculture,wetake time andmake timefor your development and best practiceout in the gardens.Wekeep all common and specialist machinery, tomographic inspection equipment is used for decay detection, heavy duty rigging kits, tractors, telehandlers, log trailers battery-powered andremote-controlledmachinery, where possible.

Your role, should youjoinus, willfocus onall expectedseasonal workacrossthe tree stock, and the many iconic specimens and champion species across the campus and establishing young trees for the future.

The right person for the role will havea passion for theindustryas a wholeand feel comfortable in having their views andideas heard amongst the team as welayout the future planning of the groundswithinitsplanted landscape, dating back to the mid-1800s.A successful candidate will have a desire for highstandards ofpresentationand be able to demonstrate this as part of the application and interview process.We area proud custodians toour150 hectaresof gardens and grounds, having just gained botanic garden status we are looking for somebody to join are small motivated and busy team to help us deliver the highest standards of arboriculture.
