Job summary

Devon County Council is seeking a Climate and Sustainability Officer to join the Environmental Sustainability Group. You will lead projects that reduce carbon emissions and drive system-wide change across the region, collaborating with partners in local government, business, communities and regional bodies.

You will provide technical advice, shape strategies and guidance, and support partnerships such as the Devon Climate Emergency and National Landscapes.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role providing environmental advice and supporting projects/partnerships.
• Good understanding of climate resilience and sustainability initiatives.
• Strong communication skills, able to translate technical info for varied audiences.
• Proactive, collaborative approach addressing climate and ecological emergency.
• Confidence working with data to shape practical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support climate action projects reducing carbon emissions across Devon.
• Provide technical advice, shape strategies and guidance for partners.
• Support relationships with Devon Climate Emergency, Devon Local Nature Partnership and National Landscapes.
• Collaborate across the council and external partners to deliver solutions.
