Job summary

Nottingham City Council invites applications for a role leading energy and climate policies and sustainable development initiatives. You will drive strategies, set targets and ensure delivery in partnership with council services and external stakeholders.

The position emphasises collaboration, ambitious but deliverable plans, and identifying funding opportunities to support energy, fuel-poverty, waste and carbon reduction goals. Hybrid working is available with a supportive culture.

Qualifications

To lead the development of plans to deliver carbon neutral status to NCC and the city of Nottingham.
To work collaboratively with colleagues across NCC, and with stakeholders around Nottingham and beyond, to ensure strategy documents are ambitious but deliverable, and have strong buy-in from across the city.
To identify funding opportunities to help meet ambitions on energy, fuel-poverty, waste and climate change, and support the Head of Carbon Reduction Projects and Policy in taking advantage of those opportunities through, for example, developing funding bids.
To support the Head of Carbon Reduction Projects and Policy and members of the CN28 & Air Quality Strategy Board with technical and project support in order to ensure that organisation change, and actions found within the Carbon Neutral Action Plan are delivered.

Responsibilities

To lead the development of energy, climate change and other sustainable development policies, strategies and targets, and ensure they are met.
To develop, implement and advise upon environmental and sustainability initiatives and policy, and support the integration of sustainable principles and practices within Council services and through partnership-focused initiatives.
