Job summary

Arun District Council is seeking a Climate Change and Sustainability Officer to support the Council's Climate Action and Biodiversity Work Plan and Carbon Neutral Strategy. The role involves working with external stakeholders and suppliers to drive carbon reduction across services and with local SMEs.

Regular office attendance is required (minimum 2 days per week). The role offers a permanent contract and a full-time pattern with 37 hours per week, based at Arun Civic Centre, Littlehampton.

Qualifications

• Support procurement to engage suppliers aligned with carbon reduction objectives.
• Deliver carbon reduction initiatives with focus on suppliers and local SMEs/business owners, residents, schools, staff and elected members.
• Increase engagement around climate change and sustainability with internal and external stakeholders.

Overall Job Purpose:

• To assist in the delivery of the Council’s Climate Action and Biodiversity Work Plan and The Carbon Neutral Strategy.
• To support and influence the procurement of goods and services to ensure that the Council engages suppliers and contractors who are aligned with the Council’s carbon reduction objectives
• To support and deliver carbon reduction initiatives within Council services and with external stakeholders, with a focus on suppliers and local SMEs/business owners but to also include residents, schools, staff, elected members and others.
• To increase engagement around climate change and sustainability with stakeholders, both internally and externally, with a focus on suppliers and local SMEs/ businesses but to also include residents, schools, staff, elected members, and others.
