Job summary

Powys County Council is seeking an Internal Climate Project Support Officer to assist the Climate Project Manager in developing, delivering and monitoring climate and nature projects that support the Net Zero Routemap and wider Climate and Nature programmes across the council.

This role provides practical project administration, financial and reporting support, coordinating work across services, maintaining project information, and tracking milestones to ensure outcomes align with Sustainable

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting the delivery of projects or programmes.
• Experience of monitoring projects and programmes.
• Ability to set priorities and manage competing demands including deadlines.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Understanding of grant funding programmes.
• Knowledge of financial processes and procedures in the public sector.

Responsibilities

• Support the financial management, administration, monitoring of budgets and reporting of climate and nature projects, programmes, and initiatives aligned with the Net Zero Routemap.
• Support effective communication with stakeholders, helping to promote climate and sustainability initiatives through websites, social media, newsletters, and internal communications.
• Monitor and report on the progress of climate and nature projects ensuring activities, milestones and outputs are tracked against local, regional, and national timelines.
• Maintain and update project records, databases, trackers, and information systems supporting collection, analysis, and reporting of performance indicators, carbon reduction data, and other statistics.
• Respond efficiently and professionally to enquiries from colleagues, partners and stakeholders, providing accurate information and supporting timely resolution of requests.
• Provide administrative and organisational support for project boards, working groups, workshops, stakeholder meetings, training sessions, and climate-related events.
