Job summary

Bassetlaw District Council is seeking a Climate Change Officer in the Growth and Economic Prosperity department to help deliver our environmental agenda and support decarbonisation projects across the district. This pivotal role focuses on turning strategic climate ambitions into practical improvements for local communities.

You will manage a domestic retrofit programme, analyse data to guide decisions, engage residents and partners, and contribute to climate strategies and action plans to

Qualifications

• A degree or A-levels / equivalent qualifications with relevant experience.
• A good working knowledge of climate change, sustainability, carbon reduction and building retrofit.
• Broad understanding of domestic retrofit and its role in improving energy efficiency, reducing carbon emissions and helping to address fuel poverty.
• Experience using data and analytical skills to provide professional insight and support decision-making.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills.
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage large datasets and competing tasks within a complex project.
• The ability to analyse complex information and communicate it clearly to non-specialists.
• Strong IT skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) to a high standard.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day delivery of the domestic retrofit programme and decarbonisation projects.
• Develop and implement climate change strategies, action plans and wider environmental initiatives.
• Work with residents, contractors, funding bodies and partners to turn ambitious plans into practical outcomes.
