Job summary

Newsquest Media Group is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join an ambitious Edinburgh-based team. You will work client-side on a diverse portfolio of development projects, contributing to cost control, value engineering and commercial management across Scotland.

The role requires experience in a main contractor, developer or housebuilder environment, with strong cost awareness and stakeholder management. Regular site travel across Scotland is involved.

Qualifications

• Experience as Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor, developer or housebuilder environment.
• Strong understanding of cost control, valuations, procurement and contract administration.
• Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Project.
• Proactive attitude with a practical, problem-solving approach.

Responsibilities

• Oversee pricing exercises, tender documentation and support the tendering process.
• Prepare/csupport cost estimates, tender submissions, bid analysis and commercial negotiations.
• Assist with feasibility studies and commercial appraisals.
• Monitor valuations, cost reporting, change management and project financial performance.
• Review contractor valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Provide commercial and value-engineering advice across development projects.
• Identify and report potential budget risks and cost pressures.
• Prepare financial reporting and project updates for senior management and the Board.
• Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, contractors and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.
