Job summary

Vets for Pets Bristol Kingswood is seeking a friendly part-time receptionist to join our small animal practice. You will be the first point of contact for clients and their pets, handling bookings, payments, and inquiries while supporting the clinical team.

Working 30 hours per week across Monday to Friday and one Saturday morning every five weeks, you will help maintain a welcoming, efficient front desk and contribute to delivering outstanding client service.

Qualifications

• Customer service and reception experience required.
• Friendly and welcoming presence for clients and their pets.

• Willingness to learn practice services to advise clients.
• Ability to handle difficult conversations with empathy.

Responsibilities

• Provide an exceptional service to clients and care for their pets as the link between clients and clinical team.
• Greet clients and their pets, offering support, guidance, and expertise.
• Manage cash and card payments confidently.
• Book appointments and keep the diary up to date.
• Answer phone calls and email enquiries from clients.
• Assist the clinical team in dispensing medication.
• Keep reception and consulting areas clean and well presented.

Job description

If you enjoy providing a great service and working in a team, we have just the opportunity for you at our Bristol Kingswood practice to start as soon as possible.

We are a small animal practice on the outskirts of Bristol. We currently have a friendly and supportive team of 5 Vets, 4 Nurses, 2 Student Nurses, 5 Client Care Advisors, and a Practice Manager.

What your typical day will look like

• Your focus is to provide an exceptional service to our clients and the best care possible to their pets - providing a link between clients and the clinical team.
• Greeting each client and their pets in a friendly manor and offering support, guidance, and expertise.
• Managing both cash and card payments confidently.
• Booking appointments appropriately for the clinical team, ensuring the diary is well managed each day.
• Answering phone calls and email enquiries from clients.
• Assisting the clinical team in dispensing medication.
• Ensuring the reception area and consulting rooms are kept clean and to high standard throughout the day.

This position will be for 30 hours per week. Working Mon-Fri (6hr) and 1 in 5 Saturday Mornings (9am-1pm)

The attributes required

• You will be a friendly and welcoming face for the client(s) and their pets when they arrive at the practice.
• You will have customer service experience and reception experience
• Previous experience would be preferred but not essential
• You will keep yourself fully up-to-speed with the practice services available so you can confidently advise clients.
• You will be calm, attentive, and always focus on the clients’ needs whilst bringing enthusiasm and drive to your role.
• To be successful in this role being able to multitask is essential.
• You will be able to deal with everything that is thrown at you, from comforting a client who has had some bad news about their pet or sharing in the joy of a new puppy’s first visit to the vet.
