Client Accounting Manager (Client Finance - Birmingham)

Job Overview

The Client Accounting Manager works with a small team of Client Reporting Accountants and is responsible for all aspects of client and property accounting within a designated portfolio. The role involves coordinating accounting service delivery to external and internal clients, with occasional project work reporting directly to the Client Finance Senior Management Team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the principal contact for clients, surveyors, and relevant parties for accounting service delivery.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of client accounting records, including statements, tax reporting, rent charges, deposits, and reconciliations.
  • Understand and document client reporting requirements and ensure services meet contractual obligations.
  • Respond promptly to queries, ensure data accuracy, and perform work checks.
  • Attend client meetings, prepare reports, and monitor funding and payments.
  • Review property expenditure, ensure timely reconciliations, and liaise with credit control on arrears.
  • Supervise team members, complete statutory and period-end processes, and manage client accounts.
  • Assist with audits, sale completion statements, and unidentified receipts allocation.
  • Adhere to procedures, report service issues, and oversee chart of accounts maintenance.
Financial and Business Development
  • Participate in budget processes and support business development efforts.
  • Prepare client reports, variance analyses, and ensure data compatibility with client systems.
People and Systems
  • Act as an active team player, communicate proactively, and share expertise.
  • Ensure process adherence, manage activities, and contribute to projects.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Qualified or part-qualified in CIMA, ACCA, AAT, or equivalent, with property finance experience or qualified by experience with at least three years in client-facing property finance roles.
Skills
  • Understanding of bookkeeping, financial reporting, property accounting, VAT, and service charges; proficiency in MS Office and property management packages.
Experience
  • Numerate, detail-oriented, with strong communication skills, responsible, organized, and customer-focused.
