Job summary

Mitchell Adam are partnering with a Birmingham-based professional services business to appoint a Client Accountant. You will own a portfolio, maintain regular client contact and become a trusted reference for the client’s financial performance.

You will move beyond reporting to interpret numbers, explain variances and provide meaningful insights to clients, with strong mentoring and development in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience producing management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and variance analysis.
• Experience within practice, outsourced finance or client accounting would be highly advantageous.
• Confident presenting financial information and talking clients through performance and key movements.
• Strong Excel skills with the ability to analyse data and produce clear, meaningful reporting.
• ACCA/CIMA part-qualified, finalist or qualified, with a genuine interest in developing within client-facing finance.

Overview

Mitchell Adam are delighted to be partnering with a highly regarded professional services business in Birmingham, who are looking to appoint a Client Accountant to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant who enjoys working closely with clients and wants a role where the numbers are only part of the job. You'll have real ownership of a portfolio, regular client contact and the opportunity to become a trusted point of reference for the financial performance of the businesses you support.

Rather than simply producing reports and moving on to the next set of accounts, you'll work through the full picture with your clients. You'll prepare management accounts, P&L and balance sheet reporting, analyse variances and performance, and then take the time to walk clients through what the numbers actually mean. You'll be expected to ask questions, understand the underlying drivers and provide a level of insight that makes the reporting genuinely useful.

The role would suit someone from practice, outsourced finance or an established client accounting environment who wants to take their client relationships to the next level. You'll work alongside an experienced team, gain exposure to a varied portfolio and have plenty of opportunity to develop both technically and commercially.
