Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff in various clinical and non-clinical roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this position is Monday to Friday.

(Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.)

The Glasgow & Clyde Anticoagulation Service provides comprehensive assessment and treatment for approximately 5,000 patients on Warfarin therapy. Clinics are held in hospital and community settings throughout Greater Glasgow and Clyde, including domiciliary visits for housebound patients. The post-holder will provide clerical support in a busy environment, including managing appointments via the DAWN AC system, sending out appointment and did-not-attend letters, arranging clinic lists, answering calls, and managing internal referrals from Trakcare, all within required timescales. Ensuring nursing staff are informed of urgent issues and that all clinic documentation, including new patient referrals, is available, liaising with hospital wards.

  • Provide high-quality clerical support and work as part of a team to ensure the efficiency of the anticoagulation service.
  • Handle a high volume of telephone calls politely and efficiently.
  • Print reports from the DAWN AC system as required.
  • Relay information to internal and external referrers.
  • Maintain adequate stationery and computer supplies in the work area.
  • Support and train new and recent post holders while maintaining own duties.
  • Assist in developing working procedures.
  • Access CHI/TrakCare, SCI Gateway, and the clinical portal to facilitate internal referrals and ensure patient details are correct.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative and clerical coverage for the Glasgow and Clyde Anticoagulation Service.
