Job summary

A healthcare provider in Scotland is seeking a Clerical Officer to provide essential clerical support at Ailsa Hospital. The role includes maintaining accurate patient casenotes and managing outpatient appointment systems to ensure equitable access to healthcare services. The ideal candidate will hold an SVQ 2 in Admin and ECDL or equivalent, along with good communication skills. This is a part-time position with 22.5 hours per week.

Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clerical Officer based at Ailsa Hospital.

What you will do:

You will provide a clerical service to clinicians throughout NHS Ayrshire & Arran, ensuring procedures are in place to initiate and maintain accurate and up to date patient casenotes to support clinical care. Provide an administrative role in all out‑patient appointment systems and waiting lists, facilitating equitable access to specialties across NHS Ayrshire & Arran.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
  • SVQ 2 in Admin/Information Technology
  • ECDL or equivalent
  • Knowledge acquired through relevant experience
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
Hours:

From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full‑time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 h (pro rata for part‑time staff) without loss of earnings. 22.5 h per week.
