Job summary

ABM Facility Services UK is hiring Cleaning Operatives for a full-time permanent role in the Darlington area. You will join a team delivering janitorial and waste removal services, with duties spanning internal welfare areas, production floors, and external spaces.

Training on cleaning methods and equipment will be provided, and you’ll work 4 on/4 off, 12-hour shifts, with 38.5 hours weekly. The role requires physical fitness, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently or

Qualifications

• DBS check clearance required or willingness to obtain.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods or willingness to learn.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Physically fit for an active role.

Responsibilities

• Provide janitorial services in welfare areas, offices, and production areas.
• Handle waste and ensure it is ready for transportation via approved streams.
• Operate walk-behind and ride-on sweepers and scrubber-dryers and maintain equipment.
• Respond to spillages and client callouts on site.
• Communicate effectively with team members and line manager.
• Wear PPE and comply with Health & Safety policies.
• Work independently or as part of a team and adapt quickly to a busy environment.
• Undergo full training on all cleaning methods and equipment.
