Job summary

Priory Hospital Burgess Hill is looking to recruit a Cleaning Supervisor to join our team in this full time permanent role, 37.5 hours per week.

Shift pattern is Monday - Friday - 07:00 - 15:00 with occasional weekends to cover annual leave/sickness if needed. Flexibility is required and we offer training and development opportunities within a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Fluent English, basic numeracy and literacy required.
• Experience in cleaning roles, preferably in healthcare or similar environments.
• Some supervisory experience in hospital/hotel settings is desirable.
• Solid understanding of health & safety, COSHH and cleaning standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of cleaners to maintain high site standards.
• Plan and coordinate staff rotas to ensure continuity of service.
• Support recruitment, induction and ongoing development of team members.
• Monitor cleaning standards and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Manage stock, equipment and supplies; order and control inventory.
• Report maintenance issues, damage or hazards.
• Support training and ensure compliance with required standards.

Priory Hospital Burgess Hill is looking to recruit a Cleaning Supervisor to join our team in this full time permanent role, 37.5 hours per week.

Set in attractive grounds in a rural setting, on the edge of the South Downs National Park, Priory Hospital Burgess Hill is a purpose-built building with good links to the local community. We offer acute mental health support for adult males, as well as psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) support for adult males.

What you'll be doing

• Supervising a team of cleaning staff to deliver high standards across the site
• Planning and coordinating staff rotas to ensure continuity of service
• Supporting recruitment, induction, and ongoing development of team members
• Monitoring cleaning standards and ensuring compliance with health & safety and statutory regulations
• Managing stock, equipment, and supplies, including ordering and stock control
• Reporting maintenance issues, damage, or hazards
• Supporting training and ensuring team compliance with required standards

What you'll bring to the role

• Good standard of English, with basic numeracy and literacy skills
• Previous experience in a cleaning role, ideally within a healthcare or similar environment
• Experience within a hospital/hotel environment together with some supervisory experience
• Good understanding of health & safety, COSHH, and cleaning standards
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team positively
• Reliable, organised, and able to manage workloads effectively
• Good attention to detail
