Cleaning Operative

Location: HMP Pentonville (N7)
Salary: £25,566.64
Contract: Full Time – Perm (39 hrs per week)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Cleaning Operative to join our team at HMP Pentonville, a category B adult male prison. Join a team that is more than just a group of colleagues – we work Monday to Friday as a supportive and driven family, working together to create a safe and nurturing environment. HMP Pentonville runs like a self‑contained city, and as the Facilities Maintenance Team we are committed to driving the smooth and safe operation, ensuring everything we do positively impacts prisoners, employees, visitors, families and the wider community.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Cleaning Operative you will work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues – Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, Administrators and others – dedicated to making a positive difference and providing a safe and secure environment for all. Your work will support the rehabilitation and positive change initiatives of the prison.

  • Experience of working within a cleaning environment
  • Knowledge of COSHH
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements
  • Excellent organisational, time management and people skills
