Job summary

Sodexo is hiring a Cleaning Operative in Bishop's Stortford. You will maintain clean, safe and welcoming environments for clients and customers, working as part of a team and following established hygiene, safety and GMP/GxP standards.

Full training will be provided; the role supports site rules, COSHH compliance and routine and periodic cleaning tasks. Opportunities for career development and apprenticeships are available.

Qualifications

• Experience working as part of a cleaning team.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Experience in a standards or compliance environment.
• Strong understanding of hygiene, safety and cleanliness.
• Ability to follow procedures and site requirements.
• Proactive approach with good attention to detail.
• Willingness to complete all required training.
• COSHH training is required.
• NVQs, BICSc or COPC qualifications would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Clean allocated areas efficiently and to required standards.
• Follow cleaning procedures, site rules and client requirements.
• Use cleaning chemicals safely in line with COSHH.
• Operate cleaning equipment after training.
• Report faulty equipment and ensure it is not used.
• Maintain safety signage and stock levels.
• Keep stores clean and equipment stored safely.
• Maintain personal hygiene and wear required uniform.
• Report hazards and health & safety concerns to supervisor.
• Attend training courses and meetings.
• Provide cover in other areas during sickness/holidays.

Join Sodexo as a Cleaning Operative, where you'll play an important role in maintaining clean, safe and welcoming environments for our clients and customers.

You'll be responsible for cleaning and servicing your allocated areas to the standards required by both Sodexo and the client. You'll work as part of a team, following established procedures and maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety and compliance.

Full training will be provided to ensure you're confident using the required equipment, materials and cleaning products.

What you'll do

• Clean your allocated areas efficiently and to the required standards, including weekly and periodic tasks
• Follow cleaning procedures, site rules and relevant client requirements
• Use cleaning chemicals safely and in line with COSHH requirements
• Safely operate cleaning equipment following appropriate training
• Report faulty equipment immediately and ensure it is not used
• Use appropriate safety signage, including wet floor signs
• Keep cleaning stores clean, tidy and equipment stored safely
• Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and appearance, including wearing the required uniform
• Monitor cleaning stock levels and report when supplies need replenishing
• Report hazards and potential Health & Safety concerns to your Supervisor or Manager
• Attend required training courses and meetings
• Provide cover in other areas during sickness and holidays when requested
• Follow Sodexo policies, client site rules and statutory Health & Safety requirements
• Comply with site GMP and GxP practices, SOPs and required training
• Complete mandatory training within the required timescales
• Report and take appropriate action in the event of accidents, fire, theft, loss, damage or other incidents
• Respond positively to reasonable management requests

COSHH training is required.
