Job summary

Hopwood Hall is hiring a part-time Cleaner for 20 hours per week in Middleton. You will provide cleaning services to maintain a clean and hygienic environment across the college, supporting the Corporate Services department and working within COSHH guidance.

The role requires at least one year of cleaning experience, knowledge of cleaning processes, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team, while ensuring high standards and safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in cleaning or similar role.
• Knowledge of cleaning processes and materials.
• Ability to clean to a high standard.
• Familiarity with use of toxic materials.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to staff, learners and visitors.
• Create a robust cleaning regime to maintain high cleaning standards in your designated area.

• Perform cleaning duties professionally and efficiently to meet standards within the allocated time frame.
• Support team members to meet cleaning specifications and standards, especially when covering absence.
• Use cleaning resources, consumables and equipment with care and efficiency.
• Maintain designated storage and refuse areas in tidy conditions.
• Inspect machinery and equipment prior to use daily.
• Comply with COSHH regulations and manufacturer's instructions.
• Report hazards to supervisor and follow college guidance.
• Promote the college’s sustainability policy.

Description

To provide an efficient cleaning service to the College that meets the ongoing requirements of the organisation. To diligently undertake, individually or as part of a team, the cleaning of premises to the specified standards and room specifications in order to deliver a clean and hygienic working and learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• To provide excellent customer service to staff, learners and visitors
• To create a robust cleaning regime to maintain high cleaning standards in your designated area
• Foster a positive and efficient working environment by promoting teamwork, communication, and mutual respect among the cleaning team
• Perform your cleaning duties in a professional and efficient manner in order to deliver the expected standards of cleaning within the allocated time frame on a regular and consistent basis
• Support your team members to meet the cleaning specification and standards expected of the service, in particular when covering absence to help create a strong team ethic
• Use cleaning resources, consumables and equipment with due care and attention, with emphasis on efficient and effective use
• Maintain designated storage and refuse areas in a tidy, clean and well organised conditions e.g. cleaners cupboards, recycling bays etc
• Undertake visual inspections of machinery and equipment prior to use on a daily basis
• Familiarise yourself with all risk assessments relevant to the post and safe operating/usage instructions for equipment, machinery and chemicals and adhere to the risk assessment procedure of the organisation
• Comply with regulations and policies in relation to health and safety, the safe operation and use of cleaning equipment and the safe use of cleaning chemicals in accordance with COSHH regulations and manufacturer's instructions
• Report hazards and defects to your supervisor in line with college guidance
• Promote the college’s sustainability policy
• Ensure continuous development and improvement of professional knowledge
• Any other duties, of a similar level of responsibility, as may be required
