Rethink Mental Illness in Wolverhampton is seeking a part-time Cleaner to join our team. The role covers 12 hours per week across 4 days, with flexible working times and a pro-rated salary from the full-time £24,545.

You will maintain a safe, welcoming environment across our facilities, handling tasks like dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning windows, restocking supplies, and safe waste handling. The position emphasises COSHH compliance, independence, and reliable teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Previous cleaning experience, ideally in an office or similar setting.
  • Understanding of health and safety at work legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out high-quality cleaning across all areas: dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and washing up.
  • Clean internal windows and glass, empty bins, monthly deep-clean and disinfection.
  • Restock essential supplies and wash reusable cloths and rags.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and keep accurate records; assist with stock ordering.
  • Follow cleaning rota and work with the Service Manager to keep a practical timetable.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks as needed, e.g. adjusting toilet seats or unclogging sinks.
  • Work safely and professionally, following COSHH and Health & Safety procedures.
  • Report pest issues to supervisor or senior staff.
  • Work independently, stay organized and adapt to changing tasks.
  • Maintain confidentiality and build positive working relationships.

Join Our Team as a Cleaner

Location: Wolverhampton

Role: Part-time role - 12 hours per week, over 4 days, 3 hours per day - Flexible working times

*Full-time salary equivalent - £24,545 per annum (Pro-rated for part-time hours)

Victoria Court

24/7 specialist 16-bed nursing home in Wolverhampton, supporting people aged 18-65 with mental health diagnoses including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, and other complex needs. We provide accommodation, nursing care, rehabilitation, resettlement, step-down support, and short-term 7-day crisis placements in a safe, welcoming, and recovery-focused environment. Our person-centred approach helps individuals build confidence, develop independence, manage their mental health, and achieve their personal goals. Our service offers 5 step-down placements, 7 rehabilitation placements, 4 flexible rehabilitation/step-down placements, and short-term crisis support, enabling us to meet a wide range of needs. My duties and responsibilities as a Cleaner:

You will play an important part in keeping our environment safe, welcoming, and well-maintained. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Carry out high-quality cleaning across all areas, including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and washing up.
  • Clean internal windows and glass, empty bins and complete monthly deep-cleaning and disinfection.
  • Restock essential supplies (hand wash, toilet paper, cleaning materials) and wash reusable cloths and rags.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment, keep accurate records and support with ordering new stock when required.
  • Follow the cleaning rota and work with the Service Manager to keep a practical timetable.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks such as adjusting toilet seats or unclogging sinks.
  • Work safely and professionally, following COSHH and Health & Safety procedures at all times.
  • Report any pest issues immediately to a supervisor or senior staff member.
  • Work independently, stay organised and adapt to changing tasks when needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and build positive working relationships with the wider team.
Essential experience, skills required for this role:
  • You'll have previous cleaning experience, ideally within an office building and have a good understanding of the health and safety at work legislation, in particular, operating the highest cleaning standards and operating safely at work.
  • You'll be able to prioritise the high-risk areas of cleaning and coordinate tasks accordingly
  • You'll have the ability to use own initiative
  • You'll work to agreed plans
  • You'll have good time management, organisation and communication skills
