Job summary

South Ayrshire Council is seeking a proactive classroom support assistant to relieve teachers of non-teaching duties, including preparing teaching materials and assisting with practical tasks. You will support learning activities under the direction of the classroom teacher and other colleagues, and help pupils, including those with additional support needs, within a positive, safe school environment.

Successful candidates will be registered with the PVG Scheme as required and will work across

Qualifications

• PVG Scheme membership is required or must be updated
• SSSC registration within 6 months of employment
• Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults

Responsibilities

• Relieve teachers of non-teaching duties including classroom administration and preparing teaching materials
• Support learning activities under the direction of the classroom teacher/Principal Teacher and colleagues
• Assist pupils with additional support needs and manage challenging behaviour as appropriate
