Job summary

Farnworth CE Primary School is seeking a creative and motivated Teaching Assistant to join our caring Church of England primary. You will support children’s learning and emotional wellbeing across the school, working 17.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:30–12:00, on a temporary basis.

The role focuses on 1:1 and small-group support, building warm relationships, planning engaging activities that reflect Christian values, and recording progress for teachers.

The role

  • Work across the school to support children’s learning and development
  • Build warm, trusting relationships with children, using a child‑centred approach that places children’s needs at the heart of everything.
  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small‑group support and help children access classroom learning.
  • Plan and deliver engaging activities and resources that reflect our Christian values.
  • Plan and deliver engaging curriculum activities that reflect our Christian values
  • Help identify emerging needs, record progress and communicate sensitively with class teachers.
  • Support positive behaviour, dignity and inclusion in line with school policies.
  • Work as a collaborative member of staff, contributing ideas, attending staff meetings and supporting whole‑school initiatives.

  • Use a child‑centred approach and show empathy, respect and confidentiality.
  • Can plan purposeful small‑group or 1:1 activities and keep clear written records.

  • Hold or be willing to undertake relevant training (eg. safeguarding, first aid, restorative approaches).
  • Support and model our Christian vision and values in everyday practice.
