Job summary

Farnworth CE Primary School is seeking a creative Teaching Assistant to support children’s emotional wellbeing across the school. The role involves working across the school to support social, emotional and mental health, building relationships with children and families, and delivering pastoral and curriculum activities aligned with Christian values.

The position is part-time (30 hours per week), Monday to Friday 08:30 - 15:30, with a closing date of 21/10/2026.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children’s emotional needs in paid or voluntary roles.
  • Ability to deliver 1:1 and small-group pastoral activities.
  • Strong communication with colleagues and families and creating supportive learning environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support children’s social, emotional and mental health so they are ready to learn.
  • Build warm, trusting relationships with children and families.
  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group pastoral support and help access classroom learning.
  • Plan and deliver engaging pastoral and curriculum activities reflecting Christian values.
  • Record progress and communicate with class teachers and pastoral lead.
  • Support positive behaviour and inclusion in line with school policies.
  • Collaborate with staff and support whole-school initiatives.
