Job summary

Oak Lodge School is seeking an enthusiastic Class Teacher for a 12-month maternity cover position. The role requires QTS and experience teaching in a special school, with a focus on language-based subjects and supporting D/deaf pupils.

The successful candidate will design topic-based primary-style curricula, support pupils with additional needs including autism, and demonstrate strong behaviour management to maintain a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• QTS required for teaching
• Experience teaching in a special school is essential
• BSL Level 2 required or equivalent
• Experience with deaf and/or language-impaired children and young people
• Ability to design and deliver topic-based primary-style curricula for language-based subjects
• Understanding of the needs of D/deaf pupils and those with speech, language and communication needs
• Experience working with pupils with additional needs including autism
• Strong behaviour management skills
• Grade A-C or Level 2 qualifications in English and Mathematics
