Job summary

Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment are seeking an HGV Class 2 Refuse Driver to join a busy local waste and recycling operation in Ilkeston. Monday to Friday, 6:30am starts with task-and-finish days and no nights, offering an immediate start and ongoing year-round work.

You will drive a Class 2 vehicle, assist loaders, and work as part of a local authority team delivering essential services to over 50,000 households in the Ilkeston area.

Qualifications

• A valid Category C / Class 2 HGV licence.
• Valid Driver CPC.
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• Reliable and hardworking attitude.
• Ability to work well in a team.
• Availability to start as soon as possible.
• Previous experience driving a refuse/waste vehicle is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Drive a Class 2 refuse collection vehicle on local residential routes.
• Collect household waste and recycling from designated areas.
• Assist loaders when required to complete rounds safely and efficiently.

The Role

You’ll be working as part of a local authority waste collection team, providing an essential service to more than

50,000 households across the area.

Your day will involve driving a Class 2 refuse collection vehicle on local residential routes, collecting:

Household waste

Recycling

This is a hands-on driving role and you’ll be part of the crew, not just sitting behind the wheel. You will be expected to

get out of the cab and assist the loaders when required, helping the team complete the round safely and efficiently.

You’ll be working

Monday to Friday from 6:30am until the round is complete.

What we're looking for

To be considered, you’ll need:

• A valid Category C / Class 2 HGV licence
• Valid Driver CPC

• The ability to work well as part of a team
• Availability to start as soon as possible
