Job summary

Rochdale Borough Council is seeking a Waste Services Driver (Class 2 HGV) to join the Waste and Recycling Service at Green Lane Depot, Heywood. You will manage a vehicle and crew, collect waste and recycling, and ensure timely, safe operations across the borough.

The role requires a Class 2 licence with Driver CPC, a willingness to work outdoors in all weather, and the ability to maintain high safety and service standards. Permanent, 37 hours over four days, Tue-Fri.

Qualifications

• Holds a valid HGV Class C (Class 2) licence and Driver CPC.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Physically fit for a demanding operational role.
• Able to work as part of a team and use own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for vehicle and crew, ensuring compliance with driving regulations and Council requirements.
• Collect a range of waste and recycling materials and deliver a reliable service to residents.
• Ensure routes, missed collections and assisted collections are completed efficiently.
• Drive safely in line with road traffic laws and health and safety requirements.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly.
