Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking an HGV Driver - Refuse Vehicle to support a safe, efficient waste collection service across urban and rural areas. The role operates on a permanent, full-time basis with a 4-day working week, using in-cab tablets and modern vehicles to optimise operations.

You will load bins, supervise a small team, and maintain high service standards while upholding health and safety requirements. A Class 2 licence and physical fitness are essential.

Qualifications

• HGV driving experience with a Class 2 licence.
• Confidence driving in urban and rural locations.
• Experience with in-cab technology is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Drive large refuse and recycling collection vehicles to maintain schedules.
• Oversee vehicle and tool maintenance and safety.
• Manage a small team of Refuse Collection staff and ensure service quality.
• Deliver high standards of customer service and street cleanliness.
