Job summary

Driver Hire Peterborough is seeking a Class 2 Concrete Mixer Driver based in Peterborough. The role involves delivering ready‑mixed concrete from production plants to construction sites in Bedford and Cambridge, with hands‑on discharge responsibilities and site liaison.

Full training (2–3 days) will be provided. Working day is typically 7:00am–5:00pm with some variability. Weekly pay and holiday pay are included.

Qualifications

• A valid Category C (Class 2) driving licence is required.
• A valid Driver CPC and digital tachograph card are required.
• Physically fit with ability to perform manual handling.
• Willingness to exit the vehicle and assist with discharging concrete.
• Reliable, flexible and safety‑conscious approach to work.
• Concrete mixer experience is beneficial but full training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Drive a Class 2 concrete mixer truck to sites across Bedford and Cambridge areas.
• Collect ready‑mixed concrete from production plants.
• Discharge concrete at site locations using appropriate methods.
• Perform manual handling tasks as part of the delivery process.
• Follow site health and safety procedures and deliver safely.
• Be flexible to meet customer and business demands.

About the Role

Driver Hire is recruiting Class 2 Concrete Mixer Drivers operating out of Peterborough, to deliver ready‑mixed concrete from production plants in Bedford and Cambridge to construction sites across the surrounding areas.

This is a hands‑on driving role that involves more than simply delivering a load. Alongside driving the mixer truck, you will be responsible for discharging concrete safely and efficiently at each site, working with site teams to ensure the concrete reaches the required location.

Full training will be provided over approximately 2-3 days to help you get familiar with the vehicle and the delivery process.

The Job

• Driving a Class 2 concrete mixer truck to construction sites across the Bedford and Cambridge areas.
• Collecting ready‑mixed concrete from the relevant production plants.
• Discharging concrete from the rear of the mixer into the required areas, which may include concrete pumps, wheelbarrows and digger buckets.
• Carrying out manual handling and physical tasks as part of the delivery process.
• Following site health and safety procedures and ensuring deliveries are completed safely.
• Working flexibly to meet customer and business demands.

Requirements

• A valid Category C (Class 2) driving licence.
• A valid Driver CPC and digital tachograph card.
• Physically fit and able to undertake manual handling and hands‑on site work.
• Willingness to get out of the vehicle and actively assist with discharging concrete.
• A reliable, flexible and safety‑conscious approach to work.
• Previous concrete mixer experience would be beneficial, but training will be provided.

Hours of Work

The standard working day is approximately 7:00am to 5:00pm. However, earlier starts and later finishes may be required depending on workload and business demands, so flexibility is essential.
