Job summary

The Recruitment Crowd is recruiting on behalf of a well‑known Southampton client for an HGV Class 2 Driver (CAT C). The role is double‑mated with multi‑drop deliveries of alcohol to bars and restaurants, and involves securing orders and helping unload at customer premises.

Hours are typically between 5am and 7am, Monday to Friday, with ongoing work and a potential permanent position for the right candidate. An induction/assessment is required before starting.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with Class 2 entitlement (category C).
• At least 1 year of relevant driving experience required.
• Valid and current DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.
• No more than 6 points on licence.
• Good understanding of Working Time Directive (WTD).
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Multi-drop deliveries of alcohol to bars/restaurants in the local area.
• Ensure orders are secured and packaged correctly before departure.
• Inform customers of any delays, shortages, or issues.
• Assist with unloading orders at customer premises.
• Collect empties and returns; manage storage in yard or warehouse.
• Complete paperwork/EPOD tasks and liaise with Transport Management on vehicle issues.

The Recruitment Crowd is currently recruiting on behalf of our well-known and industry-leading client based in the Southampton area. We are looking for multiple HGV Class 2 Drivers (CAT C) to join the team.

Please note an induction/assessment is required for this role prior to starting

Hours: Monday to Friday, typically 5am -7 am starts

Pay Rate: £16.76 per hour PAYE.

Location: Southampton, SO18.

Job Type: Ongoing with an opportunity for permanent employment for the right candidate.

The role:

Please note that the role will be double manned

• Multi-drop delivering alcohol to bars/ restaurants within the local area.
• Ensure customer orders are secured and packaged correctly for delivery prior to departure.
• Inform the customer of any order delays, stock shortages, or problems.
• Assist with the unloading of customer orders from the vehicle to the customer's premises.
• Collect empty kegs/pallets and returns - when back at Depot, ensure they are handled and stored correctly within the Warehouse or yard.
• Complete all paperwork/EPOD tasks and any administration tasks. Liaise with Transport Management re. vehicle issues/delays.

Requirements:

• Full UK driving licence with Class 2 entitlement (category C).
• 1 year experience is required.
• Valid and in date DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.
• No more than 6 points on a licence (minor offences only).
• Full understanding of WTD legislation.
• Excellent communication skills.
