Job summary

GXO Logistics is hiring a Class 1 Shunter Driver in the Northfleet area to cover a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern with 42 hours per week. Shifts run 06:00-18:00 and 18:00-06:00, with a salary of £35,583.38 plus shift premium and nights uplift, plus 20 days holiday and a pension plan.

The role involves managing trailers, supporting external hauliers, and ensuring transport area safety and checks. Applicants should have a Class 1 licence, CPC, and good communication skills.

Qualifications

• You must hold a valid Class 1 licence with a minimum of 3 years experience.
• Have a valid Driver Qualification Card (CPC).
• Less than 6 penalty points on licence (No DR, DG, DD, BA, CD, AC, LC or TT99 endorsements with a conviction date within the previous 5 years).
• Shunter Experience preferred.
• Must be able to complete manual handling tasks.
• Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• To ensure the TUG unit is safe to operate and monitor H&S of the transport area, report any non-conformances including VOR trailers.
• Effectively manage trailers on and off the bays, both at the RDC and over the mill in line with operational requirements.
• Support all external hauliers for collections / deliveries and any internal movements between site locations.
• Complete all transport area checks in an accurate and timely manner utilising systems and methods as supplied.
• Monitor the usage and allocation of stand trailers.
• Prepare trailers for loading including laying out of straps and pulling curtains.
• Carry out any other duties as requiredin line with the role.
