Job summary

Dunbia in Preston is actively seeking a Class 1 Shunter Driver to join a leading European food processing company. This hands-on role offers training and career progression in a well-established team.

The role runs Monday–Friday, 2pm–11pm, with one Sunday every fortnight at double time; rate of pay is £16.56 per hour. Training and overtime opportunities are available within a supportive transport department.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 driving licence required.
• Experience as shunter/yard driver preferred.
• Willingness to work shifts including Sundays on rotation.

Responsibilities

• Work within Transport to move trailers promptly and safely.
• Coordinate with departments and subcontractors’ vehicles.
• Adhere to Health & Safety, hygiene rules and PPE requirements.
• Operate equipment safely under relevant legislation and company policies.
• Provide trailers for loading for Retail/Abattoir and remove when loaded.
• Supervise yard activity and park vehicles safely when not in use.
• Check trailer temperatures on bays or electrical points.
• Provide a trailer inventory list to the Transport Manager.
• Complete changeover list for the next shunter with trailer locations and temps.
