Job summary

Dunbia in Preston is seeking a Class 1 Shunter Driver to join our busy transport team. This role offers Monday to Friday shifts from 2pm to 11pm and one Sunday every fortnight paid at double time.

Rate of pay is £16.56 per hour, with overtime and a range of company benefits including pension and occasional perks. Training will be provided to develop new skills and advance within the company.

Responsibilities

• Working within the Transport department to ensure the movement of trailers is carried out in a timely and efficient manner.
• Liaising with different departments and coordinating sub-contractors’ vehicles.
• Ensure you fully understand and comply with company requirements regarding Health and Safety and Hygiene, including PPE.
• Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
• To provide trailers for loading for both Retail/Abattoir & remove when loaded.
• To supervise yard activity, and position vehicles when not in use safely in the yard.
• To check temperatures of all trailers loaded on bays or on electrical points.
• To provide a list of trailers present in the yard to the Transport Manager.
• Fill in changeover list for the next shunter, i.e. what trailers are in the yard, what temperature they are running at, and where they are loaded for, and any empties.

This role would be an ideal position for a recently qualified Class 1 Driver who is looking to gain experience and be trained.

Monday-Friday 2pm-11pm plus 1 Sunday every fortnight at Double time.
