Job summary

Bulkhaul is seeking experienced LGV Class 1 Drivers to operate across the UK, focusing on Leeds and the A1/M62 corridors. You will transport bulk liquids and powders in tank containers, day-to-day driving, and maintain safety and compliance standards.

Night outs average 2–3 per week with travel across the UK. A valid LGV Class 1 (C+E) licence, ADR for hazardous liquids, Driver CPC (DQC) and tachograph card are required. Competitive, full-time positions available.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 12 months Class 1 driving experience.
• ADR license for hazardous liquids is required.
• Valid LGV Class One (C+E) licence is essential.
• Driver CPC training and a valid DQC are mandatory.
• Digital tachograph card must be held.

Responsibilities

• Transport bulk liquids, gases and powders across the UK following safety and ADR regulations.
• Carry out daily vehicle and trailer safety checks before journeys and report issues.
• Complete paperwork accurately (delivery notes, logs, compliance records) and ensure permits are current.
• Load/unload cargo safely and maintain cleanliness of vehicles for inspections.
• Communicate professionally with clients and site staff to ensure on-time deliveries.

Role Overview

We are currently seeking experienced and dedicated LGV Class 1 Drivers to join our team. As a Bulkhaul driver, you will be responsible for the transportation of bulk liquids and powders in tank containers, ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance are met at all times. Night:outs form part of this role, and you can average 2:3 overnight stays a week depending on the needs of the business, night:outs will vary from week to week.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the safe and timely transportation of bulk liquids, gasses and powders across the UK, adhering to all road safety regulations. Maintain a high level of awareness and compliance with all legal requirements, including those related to hazardous goods transport (ADR regulations) if applicable.


• Perform daily Vehicle and Trailer Safety Maintenance checks before commencing any journey to ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition. Timely report any mechanical issues or necessary repairs to the fleet maintenance team. Keep the vehicle clean at all times for spot checks and ensure its fit for the safe transport of goods.


• Accurately complete and maintain all relevant paperwork, including delivery notes, driving logs, and compliance records. Ensure all necessary permits and licenses are up to date and carried in the vehicle. Adhere to Bulkhauls safety standards and follow company procedures for loading and unloading cargo.


• Ensure that all bulk liquid cargo is safely loaded and unloaded according to company procedures and regulations. Verify that tanks and equipment are properly cleaned between loads to avoid contamination. Operate any equipment used in the loading/unloading process, such as pumps or valves, in a safe and efficient manner.


• Communicate effectively and professionally with clients and site staff during deliveries, ensuring that cargo is delivered on time and in good condition. Address any customer concerns or delivery issues to your Manager and in a timely manner.


• Follow all Working Time Directive regulations and ensure compliance with drivers hours and tachograph laws. Daily communication with your Manager to manage driving times and rest periods efficiently to avoid fatigue and ensure safety on the road.


• Strictly follow all health and safety guidelines, particularly when handling hazardous materials. Participate in safety training and report any accidents or near:misses immediately. Ensure personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn at all times when handling goods.

Role Requirements

• Minimum 12 months Class 1 driving experience.


• A valid ADR license is required, specifically for the transport of hazardous liquids. Training in handling hazardous materials, particularly in classes related to bulk liquids (such as corrosive or flammable substances), is a critical requirement.


• Must hold a current and valid LGV Class One (Category C+E) driving license, enabling the operation of large goods vehicles, including articulated trucks.


• Must have completed the required Driver CPC training and hold a valid Driver Qualification Card (DQC). Ongoing CPC training to maintain compliance is essential.


• Must possess a valid digital tachograph card to accurately record driving hours and comply with drivers hours and working time regulations.
