Job summary

Adler & Allan in Rainham is seeking an experienced HGV Class 1 driver to join our specialist environmental services team. This permanent role goes beyond pure driving, covering hands-on tasks on site and across the UK on remediation and drainage projects.

You will operate HGV Class 1 and specialist equipment, perform high-pressure jetting, support spill response, and take part in an on-call rota. A practical, flexible attitude and a valid CPC Tachograph are essential; training is provided for

Qualifications

  • Valid HGV Class 1 Licence.
  • Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Experience within: Tankering, Drainage or jetting operations, Environmental services, Groundworks/remediation or industrial cleaning would be highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of vehicle checks and tachograph compliance.
  • Flexible attitude towards overtime, travel, and emergency response work.

Responsibilities

  • Operating company vehicles including HGV Class 1 and specialist equipment
  • Carrying out high-pressure water jetting, drain and interceptor cleaning works
  • Supporting environmental spill response operations, including oil, fuel, and chemical incidents
  • Assisting with tank uplifts, industrial cleaning, forecourt PPM works, and remediation projects
  • Operating pumps, vacuums, hoses, and associated environmental response equipment
  • Working alongside experienced multi-skilled operatives on major projects and reactive works
  • Completing vehicle checks, site paperwork, and safety documentation
  • Supporting emergency response call-outs as part of the on-call rota

Looking for more than just a driving job?

Looking for a hands-on, high-impact role where every day is different? We’re hiring a HGV Driver that isn't afraid to get stuck in on the additional hands on tasks! If you have experience in HGV Class 1 and groundworks or remediation and a knack for problem-solving, we want you on board.

This is far more than a standard HGV driving role. You’ll be part of a specialist operational team delivering environmental services, emergency spill response, industrial cleaning, drainage works, and remediation projects both local and across the UK.

What You’ll Be Doing

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • Valid HGV Class 1 Licence
  • Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
  • A practical, hands-on approach with a strong work ethic
  • Experience within:
    • Tankering
    • Drainage or jetting operations
    • Environmental services
    • Groundworks, remediation, or industrial cleaning would be highly advantageous
  • Knowledge of vehicle checks and tachograph compliance
  • Ability to work safely and professionally in fast-paced environments
  • Flexible attitude towards overtime, travel, and emergency response work

ADR Licence preferred but not essential, training can be provided for the right candidate.

On-Call & Overtime

This role includes participation in an on-call rota approximately 1 week in every 5–6 weeks, supporting emergency environmental response works.
