Job summary

Adler & Allan in Rainham is recruiting a Class 1 HGV Driver for a permanent, full-time role. The position combines driving with hands-on environmental services, including spill response and remediation on projects across the UK. A practical, proactive approach and flexibility for overtime are essential.

Responsibilities include operating HGV Class 1 and specialist equipment, high-pressure jetting, tank uplifts, and supporting emergency response. On-call rota participation is required.

Qualifications

  • Valid HGV Class 1 Licence.
  • Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Good practical, hands-on approach.
  • Experience within: Tankering, Drainage or jetting operations.
  • Environmental services experience beneficial.
  • Willingness to overtime and travel.

  • Carry out high-pressure water jetting, drain and interceptor cleaning.
  • Support environmental spill response operations, including oil, fuel and chemical incidents.
  • Assist with tank uplifts, industrial cleaning, forecourt PPM works, and remediation projects.
  • Operate pumps, vacuums, hoses, and associated environmental response equipment.
  • Work alongside experienced multi-skilled operatives on major projects and reactive works.
  • Complete vehicle checks, site paperwork, and safety documentation.
  • Support emergency response call-outs as part of the on-call rota.

Looking for a hands-on, high-impact role where every day is different? We’re hiring a HGV Driver that isn't afraid to get stuck in on the additional hands on tasks! If you have experience in HGV Class 1 and groundworks or remediation and a knack for problem-solving, we want you on board.

This is far more than a standard HGV driving role. You’ll be part of a specialist operational team delivering environmental services, emergency spill response, industrial cleaning, drainage works, and remediation projects both local and across the UK.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Operating company vehicles including HGV Class 1 and specialist equipment

Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
  • Valid HGV Class 1 Licence
  • Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
  • A practical, hands-on approach with a strong work ethic
  • Experience within:
    • Tankering
    • Drainage or jetting operations
    • Environmental services
    • Groundworks, remediation, or industrial cleaning would be highly advantageous
  • Knowledge of vehicle checks and tachograph compliance
  • Ability to work safely and professionally in fast-paced environments
  • Flexible attitude towards overtime, travel, and emergency response work

ADR Licence preferred but not essential, training can be provided for the right candidate.

On-Call & Overtime

This role includes participation in an on-call rota approximately 1 week in every 5–6 weeks, supporting emergency environmental response works.
