Job summary

DFDS in Grimsby is seeking a Class 1 HGV Driver to join our team, delivering fresh fish and frozen foods to supermarket distribution on regional and national routes.

You will perform daily vehicle checks, handle loads safely, and maintain accurate paperwork, while adhering to tachograph regulations and safety standards. Training is provided for fridge work, with a strong emphasis on professional conduct and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must hold a full HGV Class 1 licence and a valid Tachograph card.
• Fridge work experience is a bonus but not essential.
• Demonstrate a professional attitude and safety-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Drive Class 1 vehicles on regional and national routes.
• Shunt trailers around site and manage fridge loads.
• Handle chilled and frozen goods and monitor fridge temperatures.
• Perform daily walkaround checks and report issues.
• Complete delivery paperwork accurately and on time.
• Follow road transport and tachograph regulations.
• Ensure loads are secure and handled safely.

About The Role

You’ll be working days tramping with fridge trailers, transporting fresh fish and frozen food for supermarket distribution.

You Will Be Responsible For

• Driving Class 1 vehicles on regional and national routes
• Shunting trailers around our site
• Handling chilled and frozen goods, monitoring fridge temperatures
• Performing daily walkaround checks and reporting any issues
• Completing delivery paperwork accurately
• Following all road transport and tachograph regulations
• Ensuring loads are secure and handled safely

About You

To join our team, you’ll need a full HGV Class 1 licence, along with a valid Driver CPC and tachograph card. Experience with fridge work is a bonus but not essential, as training can be provided. Most importantly, you’ll bring a professional attitude, strong communication skills, and a commitment to safety in everything you do.
