Job summary

DFDS in the United Kingdom is seeking a Class 1 HGV Driver to join our night shift operation delivering fresh fish as part of the cold chain.

You will work Monday to Thursday nights from around 17:00, driving Class 1 vehicles, managing temperature, completing paperwork, and ensuring safety. Training is provided and a professional attitude is essential.

Qualifications

• HGV Class 1 licence with valid Driver CPC and tachograph card.
• Physical fitness for manual handling and night shifts.
• Experience with cold chain or fresh produce is advantageous; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Drive Class 1 vehicles on scheduled night routes.
• Handle chilled goods and monitor temperature requirements.
• Perform daily walkaround vehicle checks and report issues.
• Unload goods using pump trucks and move pallets.
• Complete delivery paperwork accurately and on time.

About The Role

Working Monday to Thursday nights, starting around 17:00, you’ll be responsible for transporting fresh fish as part of our cold chain operation.

You Will Be Responsible For

• Driving Class 1 vehicles on scheduled night routes
• Handling chilled goods and monitoring temperature requirements
• Performing daily walkaround checks and reporting any issues
• Physically unloading goods using pump trucks and moving pallets
• Completing delivery paperwork accurately
• Following all road transport and tachograph regulations

About You

You’ll need a valid HGV Class 1 licence, Driver CPC, and tachograph card. Physical fitness is important as the role involves manual handling. Experience with cold chain or fresh produce is an advantage, but training will be provided. A professional attitude and commitment to safety are essential.
