Job summary

Barrett Steel Limited is recruiting for a multi-drop HGV driver to join the team. The role involves unloading at customer premises and ensuring PODs are signed and returned promptly.

You will check load security, perform daily vehicle checks, and maintain safety standards across site, road and customer premises while upholding high levels of customer service. A Driver CPC, Digital Tachograph, and WTD knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid HGV Class 1 licence (max 6 points).
• Own a Driver CPC & Digital Tachograph card.
• Knowledge of Working Time Directive.
• Experience in warehousing or distribution, ideally multi-drop.
• Understanding and experience of EHS requirements.
• Willingness to stay away when required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safe unloading of vehicles at customer premises.
• Ensure Proofs of Delivery are signed and returned promptly.
• Check load security and weight distribution to latest safe practices at start and end of each shift.
• Ensure delivery vehicles are maintained to company standards and report defects.
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and operate in a safe manner.
• Uphold health and safety standards at site, on the road and at customer premises.
• Be an ambassador for high quality customer service.

All About the Role
The purpose of this role is to carry out multi-drop driving & related duties involved with the carriage of goods. The basic hours for this role are Monday to Friday 50 hours per week plus overtime.

Specific tasks include:

• To oversee the safe unloading of vehicles at customer premises
• Ensuring Proofs of Delivery are signed & returned without delay.
• To check the load security & weight distribution according to latest safe working practices at the beginning and end of each shift.
• To ensure that the delivery vehicles are always maintained to Company standards, of reporting of any defects to the vehicle.
• Ensures vehicles are in safe condition, with daily checks correctly completed before use, & are operated in a safe manner.
• Uphold all exacting health and safety standards at site, on the road and at customer premises.
• Be an ambassador for high quality customer service

All About You

Essential Skills for the role:

• To hold a valid HGV Class 1 Licence (with no more than 6 points).
• Own a Driver CPC & Digital Tachograph card.
• Knowledge of working time directive.
• Previous experience in a warehousing or distribution business, ideally multi-drop
• Understanding and experience of EHS requirements.
• The ability to stay away as and when the job requires it.
