Job summary

Barrett Steel Limited, the UK’s largest steel stockholder with over 150 years of heritage and 26 sites, is seeking a multi‑drop driver to join our team. The role includes unloading at customer sites, ensuring PODs, and maintaining load security with a strong emphasis on safety and service.

The standard hours are Monday to Friday, 42.5 hours per week, with overtime. We value drivers who hold a valid HGV1 licence, Driver CPC, and tachograph card, and who can stay away when required.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid HGV Class 1 Licence (no more than 6 points).
• Possess a Driver CPC & Digital Tachograph card.
• Knowledge of the Working Time Directive and drivers' hours rules.
• Experience in warehousing or distribution, ideally multi‑drop.
• Understanding and experience of EHS requirements.
• Willingness to stay away from home as required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safe unloading of vehicles at customer premises.
• Ensure Proofs of Delivery are signed and returned promptly.
• Check load security and weight distribution at shift start and end.
• Maintain delivery vehicles to company standards and report defects.
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and drive safely according to procedures.
• Uphold health and safety standards on site, on the road and with customers.
• Be an ambassador for high quality customer service.
