Job summary

Gregory Distribution Ltd. is hiring a Class 1 Driver for night shifts from 15:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday, to deliver goods to retail stores across the UK from The Range in Stowmarket.

You will hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence with DCPC and Tachograph cards, and have a focus on safety and customer service while upholding high standards of delivery accuracy and timing.

Qualifications

• Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• Previous experience delivering to retail or commercial sites (preferred but not essential).
• Strong focus on customer service and clear, courteous communication.
• Ability to work to tight schedules while maintaining high safety standards.
• Positive, team-oriented attitude and ability to work independently.
• Good geographical knowledge and route planning awareness.

Responsibilities

• Deliver goods to retail stores across the UK using curtain side and box trailers.
• Complete an average of 1 to 3 delivery drops per shift in line with schedule and route planning.
• Ensure loads are securely fastened using straps and nets to prevent movement or damage.
• Manage tail lift deliveries and safe unloading at client sites.
• Perform daily vehicle safety checks using the company phone.
• Maintain regular communication with the transport office for updates and changes.
• Represent the company professionally at every delivery point and build relations with store teams.
• Participate in ongoing training and regulatory updates to keep skills current.

About the Role

As a Class 1 Driver, you will:

• Use curtain side and box trailers on single and double deck trailers, to deliver goods to retail stores across the UK.
• Completean average of 1 to 3 delivery drops per shift in line with schedule and route planning.
• Ensure all loads are safely and securely fastened using straps, nets, and other securing equipment to prevent movement or damage during transit.
• Manage tail lift deliveries, ensuring safe and efficient unloading at client sites.
• Perform comprehensive daily vehicle safety checks using your company phone to maintain top-notch vehicle safety and reliability.
• Maintain regular communication with the transport office to provide updates on delivery progress and respond to any changes or issues in real time.
• Represent the company professionally at every delivery point, ensuring excellent customer service and building strong relationships with store teams.
• Participate in ongoing training and development, including refresher courses and updates on industry regulations, to keep your skills sharp and compliant.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• Previous experience delivering to retail or commercial sites (preferred but not essential).
• A strong focus on customer service, with the ability to communicate clearly and courteously.
• The ability to work to tight schedules while maintaining high safety standards.
