Job summary

Gregory Distribution Ltd. in Lesmahagow is hiring a Class 1 Driver to deliver goods to retail stores on assigned routes, including Inverness, Perth, Aberdeen or Dundee. You will operate curtain side and box trailers and ensure loads are secured for transit.

Shifts start early or late, with 21:00–04:00 night hours eligible for a £2.75 per hour uplift. Overtime is paid and ongoing training is provided to keep skills up to date.

Qualifications

• Must hold UK Class 1 CE Licence.
• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• Experience delivering to retail or commercial sites preferred.
• Strong customer service and clear communication.
• Ability to work to tight schedules with high safety standards.
• Positive, team-oriented attitude; able to work independently.
• Good geographical knowledge and route planning.

Responsibilities

• Deliver goods to retail stores on assigned routes, may include Inverness, Perth, Aberdeen or Dundee.
• Complete an average of 1 to 3 delivery drops per shift in line with schedule and route planning.
• Secure loads using straps, nets and other securing equipment.
• Manage tail lift deliveries and unloading at client sites.
• Perform comprehensive daily vehicle safety checks.
• Maintain regular communication with transport office with delivery progress.
• Represent the company professionally at delivery points and build relationships with store teams.
• Participate in ongoing training and industry updates.

About the Role

As a Class 1 Driver, you will:

• Use curtain side and box trailers on single and double deck trailers, to deliver goods to retail stores on assigned routes, which may include Inverness, Perth, Aberdeen or Dundee.


• Complete an average of 1 to 3 delivery drops per shift in line with schedule and route planning.


• Ensure all loads are safely and securely fastened using straps, nets, and other securing equipment to prevent movement or damage during transit.


• Manage tail lift deliveries, ensuring safe and efficient unloading at client sites.


• Perform comprehensive daily vehicle safety checks using your company phone to maintain top-notch vehicle safety and reliability.


• Maintain regular communication with the transport office to provide updates on delivery progress and respond to any changes or issues in real time.


• Represent the company professionally at every delivery point, ensuring excellent customer service and building strong relationships with store teams.


• Participate in ongoing training and development, including refresher courses and updates on industry regulations, to keep your skills sharp and compliant.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.


• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.


• Previous experience delivering to retail or commercial sites (preferred but not essential).


• A strong focus on customer service, with the ability to communicate clearly and courteously.


• The ability to work to tight schedules while maintaining high safety standards.


• A positive, team-oriented attitude and the ability to work independently when required.


• Good geographical knowledge and route planning awareness.
