Job summary

Gregory Distribution Ltd. is recruiting a Class 1 Out and Back Driver in the United Kingdom. You will collect and deliver palletised goods with a curtain-sided trailer, ensuring loads are secured and documentation is accurate using a handheld PDA.

You will stay in close contact with the transport team to meet and exceed customer expectations, completing daily routes and returning to your home depot safely. The role requires a valid UK Class 1 CE licence, DCPC and a Digital Tachograph Card, and

Qualifications

• Possess a valid UK Class 1 CE licence enabling operation of articulated vehicles.
• Hold a current DCPC and a Digital Tachograph Driver Card for compliance.
• Demonstrate deliver exceptional customer service and represent the brand professionally.
• Be able to work to tight schedules and manage time effectively.
• Communicate clearly with transport colleagues to support a team environment.
• Have good understanding of UK road networks, especially Essex and surrounding areas.

About the Role

Class 1 Out and Back Driver

• Take responsibility for the collection and delivery of palletised goods, operating a curtain-sided trailer with professionalism and care.
• Ensure every load is safely secured, using ratchet straps and carrying out some manual handling to maintain the highest safety standards.
• Use a handheld PDA to complete all delivery documentation accurately and efficiently, keeping the process smooth and streamlined.
• Maintain regular communication with our transport team, providing updates on progress to ensure customer expectations are met and exceeded.
• Complete planned daily routes and return to your home depot at the end of each shift, ensuring all deliveries and collections are carried out safely and on time.
• Participate in ongoing training and development, staying up to date with industry best practices and continuously enhancing your skills.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• You must hold a valid UK Class 1 CE licence, enabling you to operate articulated vehicles with confidence and professionalism.
• A current Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) and a Digital Tachograph Driver Card are essential to ensure compliance with legal and safety standards.
• We're looking for someone who takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service, representing our brand with professionalism and care at every stop.
• You'll need to be comfortable working to tight schedules, managing your time effectively to ensure deliveries are made promptly and safely.
• A confident and polite communicator, you'll work closely with colleagues across transport and logistics, contributing to a supportive and efficient team environment.
• A good understanding of UK road networks, particularly across Essex and surrounding regions, will help you navigate routes efficiently and avoid delays.

Competitive Salary

£18.00ph, this equates to £864 per week based on 48 hours per week. You will receive an extra £2.75ph for any hours worked on a Saturday or Sunday and an additional £2.75ph for all hours worked between 21:00pm and 04:00am.

Shift Hours

Any 5 out of 7, start times are likely to be circa between 05:00am and 07:00am but flexibility is required.
