Job summary

Forward Waste Management Ltd. in Penarth is seeking a dedicated Class 1 Driver to join our on-site logistics team.

You will transport waste and recyclables between customer sites and Forward facilities, operating Class 1 trucks in line with company procedures and legal requirements. Daily tasks include vehicle checks, secure loading and unloading, completing paperwork, and following scheduled routes and timeframes.

Qualifications

• Class 1 Truck driving experience required.
• Valid CDL/Class 1 or HGV license with clean record and up-to-date certifications.
• Good communication with dispatch, site staff and customers.
• Experience in waste management, recycling, or industrial logistics is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Transport waste and recyclables between customer sites and Forward facilities safely.
• Conduct vehicle checks, secure loading/unloading, and complete delivery/collection paperwork.
• Follow scheduled routes and timeframes, maintaining professional interaction with customers and site staff.
• Collaborate with operations to report issues and support continuous logistics improvements.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Class 1 Driver role based in Penarth. The Class 1 Driver will transport waste and recyclable materials safely and efficiently between customer sites and Forward facilities, operating Class 1 trucks in line with company procedures and legal requirements. Daily tasks include conducting vehicle checks, ensuring secure loading and unloading, completing delivery and collection paperwork, and following scheduled routes and timeframes. The role involves communicating professionally with customers and site staff, representing Forward Waste Management in a courteous and responsible manner, and adhering to all health, safety, and environmental standards. The driver will also collaborate with the operations team to report issues, support continuous improvement in logistics, and maintain a clean and roadworthy vehicle.

Qualifications

• Strong professional driving skills, including experience with Truck Driving and operation of Class 1 Truck vehicles.


• Valid CDL Class A (or equivalent Class 1 / HGV license) with a clean driving record and up-to-date certifications.


• Effective Communication abilities for clear interaction with dispatch, site personnel, and customers.


• Customer Service skills to provide polite, reliable, and solution-focused support during collections and deliveries.


• Good knowledge of transport regulations, road safety, and working time requirements.


• Ability to follow route plans, manage time effectively, and work independently with minimal supervision.


• Basic numeracy and literacy for completing logs, manifests, and digital records accurately.


• Experience in waste management, recycling, or industrial logistics is advantageous.


• Willingness to work in an industrial environment and adhere to all health, safety, and environmental procedures.
