Job summary

Flexible People is recruiting HGV Class 1 (C+E) Day Drivers for an established logistics operation based in Barnsley. This role offers ongoing work with a mix of weekday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts and attractive hourly rates.

You will drive articulated vehicles, complete deliveries and trunking between sites, and must comply with drivers' hours and WTD regulations. A valid UK licence, DCPC, and tachograph card are required.

Qualifications

• Valid UK HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence.
• DCPC and digital tachograph card required.
• Understanding of drivers' hours and WTD regulations.
• Minimum 6 months Class 1 driving experience.
• Good communication and professional attitude.

Responsibilities

• Drive Class 1 (C+E) artic vehicles for store deliveries, RDCs, and trunking between sites.
• Complete vehicle safety checks before journeys.
• Meet shift timings across 5 days out of 7, 8–10 hour shifts.
• Adhere to WTD and drivers' hours regulations.
• Support wider national logistics network when needed.

We are currently recruiting HGV Class 1 (C+E) Day Drivers to join a well-established and growing logistics operation based in Barnsley.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Class 1 drivers looking for ongoing work, competitive pay rates and a variety of driving assignments.

Pay Rates

• Weekday Day Shifts: £18 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)
• Saturday Day Shifts: £22 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)
• Sunday Day Shifts: £24 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)

The Role

The role involves driving articulated vehicles (Class 1 / C+E), completing a variety of deliveries and collections, including:

• Store deliveries
• RDCs and distribution centres
• Warehouse deliveries
• General haulage
• Trunking between sites
• Drop & swap work

Class 1 Drivers may also be required to support the wider national logistics network when needed.

Shift Details:

• Day shifts
• Early morning and varied start times
• Any 5 days out of 7
• Shifts typically lasting 8-10 hours
• Ongoing work available

The role involves long-distance driving Class 1 HGV vehicles, trunking between sites and deliveries to major distribution centres, stores and warehouses.

Class 1 Drivers must comply with all drivers' hours and Working Time Directive (WTD) regulations and complete full vehicle safety checks before starting their journeys.

Requirements for a Class 1 Driver:

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:

• A valid UK HGV Class 1 (C+E) driving licence
• Valid Driver CPC (DCPC)
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card
• A good understanding of drivers' hours and WTD legislation
• The ability to complete vehicle checks and report defects correctlyA strong commitment to health and safety procedures
• Good communication skills and a professional attitude
• Minimum 6 months experience

Driving Licence Requirements:

• Maximum of 6 points on your driving licence
• No DD, DR or NI convictions
• Must hold a valid UK driving licence
